What exactly is quality. Everyone has a different perception. That is what makes completion satisfaction such a tricky art in the kitchen and bath industry.

Doesn't every product that is built come with a certain level of quality? When comparing two different products, there will always be something better about the quality on one over the other. Could quality then, be compared to beauty, in that it "...is in the eye of the beholder"?

I even think it is fair to say that everyone wants "good quality" of everything that they buy. They just

decide not to get "good quality" when they don't feel that the project warrants spending more money up front for it.

It is actually kind of humorous to watch how what is considered desirable and "high quality" to one client is considered poor quality and workmanship to another.

So, next time you shop for your next kitchen or bath product, and you decide to examine the canvas up closely, remember that comparison is the best tool for determining your acceptable quality, and that length of performance may be most important.

"I would recommend everyone to Portrait Kitchens. My kitchen is beautiful and very high quality."

Q: Why should I improve something in my kitchen, when the existing material is in decent shape, and the next owner will probably tear out and replace anything that I put in anyway?

Reducing Waste, St George UT

A: Dear Reducing Waste, I commend your desire to reduce wasting good materials. Many of the clients that are most concerned about return on investment, will usually go for a cheaper product than is appropriate in the home. This causes two problems. One, it is hard to hide the fact that a product isn’t up to the standards or quality of the rest of the house, and two, the next homeowner will usually know that and be more compelled to replace the material because it simply doesn't belong. My opinion is: If you don't want to, or can't afford the quality that belongs in the home, then don’t replace it with a substitute quality product.

Universal planning for all homes is almost necessary for today's changing family dynamics.
