If you have ever looked at the magnificence of a large structure, you may find it almost unbelievable that it was even possible to accomplish such a feat. You may consider pyramids, skyscrapers, the Great Wall of China, and other amazing accomplishments of mans labor by hand, and you would have to recognize the fact that they were all the result of efforts required one step at a time.

Perhaps you have been the beneficiary of the opportunity to remodel your kitchen or bathroom(s). Every one of these seemingly daunting projects also simply take one step at a time.

Though you may easily find yourself overwhelmed with decisions when it comes to color, style, capacity, watts, brand, walkway space, texture, french door, or other choices, every step has its place in the pathway of a home improvement project. Typically, one step cannot be taken before another.

My best advice, when it comes to managing which steps to take and when to take them, is to work with a professional designer and contractor. To them, these decisions are manageable and not emotional. So, put one step in front of the other and build a magnificent project!

pleased with the finished kitchen! Thank You Portrait Kitchens."

LAST MONTH’S:

Q: There are five ways that a sink can be mounted to a countertop: Under mount, surface mount, vessel style, integrated, and?:

Correct Answer: D: Tile-in / flush mount

Q: Is there a countertop material out there than I can change the color in a couple years, when I get tired of it, without replacing the entire countertop? Flexibility, St George UT

A: Dear Flexibility, What a great idea. We are going to have to patent that idea, and then sell it to one of the major manufacturers of countertop products. I do believe that countertops get changed on the basis of color more than anything else.

I do, however have one option for you to consider...concrete. You must make sure that it is concrete which has the wax sealer on it instead of epoxy. The wax may be removed, and new colorant or staining applied, then the wax reapplied. Work with your kitchen professional and a talented fabricator to plan this just right. What a perfect application for hotels, bed & breakfasts, entertainment kitchens, etc. where appearance is king.
